Foods That Cause Constipation, And Some That Help Relieve It

Constipation can be uncomfortable and annoying but for many people it is a way of life. However, It doesn’t have to be simply changing your diet and avoiding foods that cause constipation as well as eating foods that help relieve it can get you running regular again.

One of the most common reasons for constipation is not having enough fiber in your diet and eating a diet that is high in fat. Fiber can be gained from eating lots of fruits and vegetables as well as whole grains. Soluble fiber is like a soft gel which dissolves in water inside the intestines and insoluble fiber as both to the stool and passes right through unchanged.

People who have a low fiber diet usually suffer from constipation. Older people in particular may find that they don’t feel like fixing meals anymore and turn cheating a lot of convenience foods which are lacking In fresh ingredients and fiber.

How much fiber should you eat?

Processed Foods – Such as instant mash potato or frozen dinners or ready prepared meals that you pop in the microwave or oven.
Snacks such as chips or pizza

So if you want to avoid foods that cause constipation and eat foods that will help you have regular bowel movements, avoid refined and processed foods and add more fruits and vegetables and whole grains to your diet.
